Individual Trauma Therapy

What IS trauma? From a psychological standpoint trauma is defined as a lasting emotional response to a distressing event. Each person has their own capacity and tools to deal with life’s hardships. No one person’s journey looks the same because of the subjective nature of trauma. You might have a hard time identifying your own trauma, and how it affects your life and current relationships. Some symptoms, though this is not a comprehensive list, include emotional instability, nightmares, intrusive/ruminating thoughts, or feelings of low self-worth or shame.

You may ask yourself how trauma therapy can work for you? Every person comes with their own unique past and at Mariposa Counseling we are committed to providing a safe space to explore your experiences and discover how they affect you today. Through individual trauma therapy you will be guided in developing new skills and coping strategies based on your own individual needs. Healing can happen, and we are here to help.
