Trauma Focused Therapy

What IS trauma? From a psychological standpoint trauma is defined as a lasting emotional response to a distressing event. Each person has their own capacity and tools to deal with life’s hardships. No one person’s journey looks the same because of the subjective nature of trauma. You might have a hard time identifying your own trauma, and how it affects your life and current relationships. We work diligently to create a safe environment where you will learn to understand and address any past traumas and learn new tools to navigate future traumatic events.

How can individual therapy work for you?

Every person comes with their own unique past and at Mariposa Counseling we are committed to providing a safe space to explore your experiences and discover how they affect you today. Through individual therapy you will be guided in developing new skills and coping strategies based on your own individual needs. Life can feel tremendously overwhelming at times, but you do not have to tackle things alone! At Mariposa we see each client as a complete and whole person on their own transformative journey. While individual therapy is for a single person, the work done in therapy is proven to greatly improve your personal relationships such as that with your spouse, child(ren), coworkers, or the strangers you encounter in the world.
