What is EMDR Therapy?
Dr. Francine Shapiro developed EMDR in the 80’s as a structured form of psychotherapy. This form of therapy is designed to address traumatic events as well as PTSD stored in the body and mind. The process involves bilateral stimulation to mimic REM, the dream cycle of sleep. Bi-lateral stimulation is the activation of both sides of the brain. This can be done through eye movements, self-tapping, headphones, and other playful versions for kids. It is within this state the client is able to move through any thoughts, feelings, or beliefs surrounding the event(s) to desensitize and process them.
Traumas EMDR Can Help
EMDR therapy is beneficial for anyone looking to move through the difficult feelings and emotions surrounding traumatic events. For example:

-
… and so much more.

"When should I seek EMDR Therapy?"
Is there an event that has you feeling “stuck”? Do you struggle to manage extreme sadness or anger? Have you felt talk therapy is not enough? Has dealing with trauma triggers felt difficult to manage or even life halting? Are you ready for lasting healing? EMDR may be right for you!
There is Hope!
Healing can happen when you partner with our EMDR Trained therapist Amber Jarve LMSW. Amber will gently walk you through the EMDR process to ensure you feel safe. Because the process involves healing of very specific events, EMDR tends to offer faster results than other forms of therapy. EMDR can successfully heal trauma with the client communicating only as much or as little as they wish. The therapist and client need to speak just enough to communicate if change is happening or not, and how regulated the client is.
