Spring break in West Michigan starts today! I have gathered a list of activities ranging in cost both indoors and outdoors. Spring break is a great time to bring the family together for connection and fun!

Indoor Options


Gem and Mineral Show is free to enter and located at Roger’s Plaza 972 28th St, Wyoming, MI 49509. Explore booths full of jewelry, rocks, gemstones, fossils, and so much more.


The Butterflies are Blooming at the Frederick Meijer Gardens!  This is a must-see event and included with general admission. Children 3-13 $14, Adults 14-64 $25, ages 65+ $20. Extended hours until 9P on Tuesdays makes this a great option for all. April 6, 8, and 9 they are offering sensory friendly hours with limited availability for those who have disabilities or need extra support and a quieter experience.


GRPM is offering many fun spring break activities. T-Rex scavenger hunt, games, planetarium shows and more!

Kent County Children 3-17 are FREE, or $5 outside of Kent County

Kent County Adults 18-64 are $10, or $14 outside of Kent County

Kent County Seniors 65+ are $8, or $10 outside of Kent County

Kent County residents also receive free parking with paid admission so don’t forget to bring your parking ticket with you for validation!


Pottery Painting at The Mud Room is a fun way to explore your creative side! With projects starting at only $14 you’re sure to enjoy your time. Walk Ins are always welcome, but you’re also able to make a reservation to guarantee your spot!


Grand Rapids Children’s Museum is offering Spring Break Bonanza! with special activities and performers every day of spring break beginning April 3rd to April 12, 2026. 11 Sheldon Ave NE, Grand Rapids, MI 49503

Admission for ages 1-64: $12      Ages 65+: $11


Craigs Cruisers is offering Spring Break FUNPass for only $34.95! This price is available April 3-12 and includes: 4 hours of attractions, buffet access, and $10 of Game Play! They even have extended spring break hours.

Salvation Army KROC Center is also offering special spring break activities April 6-10 included in $12 Day Passes. Activities include an aquatic center with open swim, Glow Zumba for the whole family, climbing wall, family lounge with games and a reading corner, and lots more.

Outdoor Options


Aircraft Viewing Park offers an observation area to watch planes come in and out of the Gerald R Ford airport. 4820 Kraft Ave SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49512. Pack a lunch for a picnic and enjoy the aircraft activity.


Blandford Nature Center is offering Free Admission April! sponsored by LMCU. The nature center not only has outdoor trails and buildings to explore PLUS inside of their visitor center you can see many Michigan native wildlife. In addition to the nature center building and trails, you can make your way over to The Highlands nature center which is the transformation of a prior golf course into one of Grand Rapids best urban natural areas!


John Ball Zoo is always a fun place to go! Ticket prices range from $14.95-$24.95 depending on age and day of visit plus $5 parking, or free for Kent County Residents. Included in admission you can experience Pygmy Hippo feeding, Red Panda Training, plus a sloth and/or penguin encounter! In addition to the zoo, The Lantern Festival returns on April 8th! Tickets are available for Wednesday the 8th-Sunday the 12th from 7:30P-11:30P with tickets starting at $22.


West Michigan Whitecaps return to LMCU Ballpark on April 7th for their opening game of the season! Home games on April 7th, 9th, 10th, and 11th begin at 6:35P, with April 8th beginning at 12:05P and April 12th beginning at 2P.


Grand Ravines Park is a 202-acre property in Ottawa County is located at 9920 42nd Ave, Jenison, MI 49428. This property includes a dog park with a dog washing station, hiking trails, fishing, a 275-foot extension bridge, and more to explore.


Calvin Ecosystem Preserve provides walking trails, wildlife, and native gardens to anyone. Additionally, on April 4th they will be offering Nature Kids - Buds and Branches for children K-5th grade. This program starts at the Bunker Interpretive Center from 10:00A-11:30A located at 1750 East Beltline SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49546 and is free to attend.


West Michigan Trails is an excellent resource for finding any number of the incredible trails that West Michigan has to offer. This is a great option to get outside and enjoy spring in Michigan. Use or create a scavenger hunt to encourage engagement while exploring.

Frederik Meijer Gardens is making the list twice! Once as an indoor option, but also as an outdoor one. The gardens available extend beyond the indoor attractions. Located outside you will find sculptures, children’s gardens, Michigan farm garden, Japanese garden and more. With so much to explore you can surely spend a whole day here.
